Tony Foster

Tony studied Fine Art at St.Albans and Ravensbourne Schools of Art after which he combined his own painting with commercial work, including book and magazine illustration, and record sleeve art work. The paintings at that time were influenced by images of the countries he had visited. Whilst visiting these countries he collected and traded textiles, jewellery and other artefacts.

He moved to live on the North Norfolk coast in the mid nineties, and he started to concentrate solely on his own art work.

Tony finds the ever changing colours and forms of the landscape an inspiration. The alchemy of colour mixing and mark making in the studio where the magic hopefully takes place. he tries not to attempt a literal interpretation, but works to find a sense of “place” in the painting that will resonate with the viewer.
