Born and brought up on the coast of North Norfolk, the artist Mary Gundry has always lived in East Anglia. She is now based six miles from Southwold and Walberswick, and continues to have a deep-rooted love of the beach and the traditions that go with it - buckets and spades, sandcastles, windbreaks, beach huts, picnics and paddling. Mary ran The Garden Gallery in Southwold from 1998 to 2005 and The Little Gallery in Halesworth from 2008 to 2015.
Figurative work in watercolours or oil paints are her speciality. Mary also produces prints of selected items of her work and a small range of greeting cards. Her work has been included in a number of publications and in 2014 she published the book ‘Drawn to Southwold’ devoted exclusively to her paintings.
