Mita Higton

I am a Suffolk, UK based artist who specialises in watercolour and mixed media depictions of the East Anglian scenery. I am a Full Member of The Institute of East Anglian Artists (IEA). a member of The Society of East Anglia Watercolourists (SEAW). My work can be seen at Ferini Gallery, Pakefield, Suffolk, The Sheep Shop, Cambridge and Buckenham Gallery, Southwold, Suffolk and, by appointment, at my studio. I have had my work accepted at the Society of Women Artists (SWA) exhibition at The Mall Galleries and won awards in local art societies including Southwold Art society.My work has also been accepted into the juried exhibitions of the Society of East Anglia Watercolourists (SEAW). The BBC Philharmonic Orchestra purchased ‘Beached At Aldeburgh’ as a gift for their Principal Conductor, Yutaka Sado, which was presented on the culmination of the Orchestra’s 2011 tour to Japan. Several of my paintings have received awards including ‘Minsmere Reeds’ which received the SAA (Society of All Artists) Artist of the Year 2012, in the Best Professional Landscape and Woodland Scene category. 2 of my paintings, ‘Valerian Glory at Aldeburgh’ and 'Red Hot Suffolk Snow', have been selected to be the album covers of forthcoming CDs of Benjamin Britten’ music for cello to celebrate his birth centenary in 2013.
