Richard Dack

Richard Dack grew up in Lowestoft, where the marine environment fuelled his early interest in painting and cast him as essentially a Marine artist.

He studied painting and printmaking a Camberwell School of Art, after which he spent some years teaching, firstly in Cambridgeshire then in Devon, where Dartmoor generated an interest in landscape. Richard has also travelled widely and this has been reflected in his work.

Whilst in Devon, he retired from teaching and was elected to membership of The Royal West of England Academy and The Royal Society of Marine Artists, serving a term as its Secretary.

Richard has received awards at National Open Exhibitions and on several accessions at the Mall Galleries, where he is a regular exhibitor.

In 2000 he returned to his native East Anglia, where he has enjoyed reconnecting with the characteristic nature of its light and coastal environment. During this time also served as Chairman for The East Anglian Group of Marine Artists.
