Paddy Dean

When Paddy moved into her house in Kiln Lane Benhall, Suffolk, it seemed appropriate for her to have her own potter’s wheel and kiln something she had wanted to do since college days.

Her pots and bowls are fired to stoneware temperatures in an electric kiln. Each piece is hand thrown on the wheel and then turned. Consequently, each one is unique.

The pots are biscuit fired to 1000 C and then glazed and fired again to 1260 - 1280 C. All her glazes are food safe.

Her work is influenced by the landscape of the Suffolk Coast and her choice of glazes reflect the colours of the sky, sea and landscape she sees around her.
