Alan Snape

After 18 years in an Art Department at a large Comprehensive School in Cheshire, he left teaching to concentrate on working full time as a ceramic artist while also tutoring adults in his studio. A number of years producing functional domestic ware. Then changed direction to create art-based ceramics. Much of his inspiration has centered on the coastline between Southwold and Aldeburgh….reflecting sea, sand, shore and harbour. Breakwaters, boats, ropes, buoys etc feature on landscape pots. Humour is often used within his work…a polar bear with penguins….north meets south…...invoking thoughts of global warming. Since the Covid lockdown…and all teaching has stopped…figures on driftwood interacting or isolating..tell their story.
