Peter Polaine

Peter Polaine
Peter was born in London and studied at Walthamstow School of Art, and moved to East Anglia in the late sixties.
He has exhibited in several London galleries including the Royal Academy, Mall Galleries, and Bankside Gallery.
In Germany he has a strong following of private collectors of his woodcuts, and they are in permanent collections in America, Australia, Belgium and Malaysia.
“Painting – It’s the first impression, sometimes fleeting, that makes me want to paint a subject. I have to be careful not to overlook this first connection even if it means starting again. Painting in oils helps, as this medium is at its best when fresh and does not forgive overwork.”
