Alan Evans

While interested in art from an early age ( his Mother bought him a Winsor and Newton oil painting set when he was 12 years old ) the usual pressures of growing into adulthood, getting married and raising a young family only allowed him too ‘dabble’ sporadically.
He started work as Trainee Draughtsman and then moved into Telecommunications.
In his late 40’s with the children having flown the nest more time was available and he became a ‘serious amateur’ painter. Then at the age 50 quit his ‘day job’ and with a safety net of doing two days a week Picture Framing for fellow artists devoted more time to painting.
He’s greatly admires the Dutch Masters Gerrit Dou, Harmeen Steenwick and Vermeer and contemporary painters such as Jacob Collins, Tony Curanaj,  and  Michael Gallarda.
He attended the Painting School of the American Realist Artist Ted Seth Jacobs located in the Loire Valley France whose working methods and tenets on Art still influence him today.
He has had work hung ( and sold ) in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and his work is in private collections in Great Britain, France, Germany and America.
